Welcome to the wiiclassroom blog! Did you know that you could create an interactive whiteboard using only a wii controller and an infrared pen. Johnny Chung Lee of Carnegie Mellon University discovered this use and showed it to the public in an effort to provide this information free of cost to professionals who could use this technology. From this effort, sprang up an online "How to" forum called the WiimoteProject. Also, a devoloper named Boon Jin modified Johnny's software and developed an amazing free program to use with the whiteboard that also allows a second wii controller to be used as a wireless presenter. Also, online sellers have risen up and began selling infrared pens to use with the project. You might also want to purchase a $20 Nintendo Wii wireless sensor bar so you can use your wiimote as a wireless presenter.

I'm starting this blog in an effort to promote this technology and provide a one stop place for all the information you need to get started! For a total cost of about $65, you will have your own interactive whiteboard! Good luck and have fun!

Constant Power to Wiimote

Here are some pictures of how I keep constant power to my wiimote. I never have to change the batteries and this lets me not have to re-sync my controller and computer as long as I leave both on all the time. Buy an AC to DC converter like this one, and use aluminum foil to keep the 9 volt contacts end pressed into the controller. Notice on the left picture that I had to put a small piece of tin foil on the wiimote's right contact before I put the 9 volt piece in. This helped the two maintain better contact.
